I Do Sound Last updated: [12/08/2026]
1. Introduction
I Do Sound (“we,” “us,” “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.idosound.co.za and in the course of planning and delivering your event, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
2. Who we are
I Do Sound is operated by Eldon van Aswegen, a sole proprietor trading as “I Do Sound,” based in Cape Town, South Africa.
For the purposes of POPIA, Eldon van Aswegen is the Information Officer responsible for this policy and for how your personal information is handled. Contact: bookings@idosound.co.za | 076 421 8958
3. Information we collect
When you contact us — through our website contact form, WhatsApp, email, or phone — we may collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Cellphone number
- Venue name
- Event date and event type
- Music preferences
- Any other details you choose to share with us about your event
If you book with us, we also use your name and contact details to generate and send your invoice.
We do not collect ID numbers, and we never see or store your banking or card details — all payments are made by direct EFT into our business bank account.
4. How we collect your information
- Directly from you, via our website contact form (which is emailed straight to us — we don’t store submissions in a separate database or system)
- Directly from you, via WhatsApp Business, email, or phone calls
5. How we use your information
We use your information only to:
- Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote
- Plan and deliver the service you’ve booked
- Communicate with you before, during, and after your event
- Generate and send your invoice
- Keep basic business records for tax purposes
We don’t run a mailing list or automated marketing. All communication with you is one-to-one.
6. Sharing your information with third parties
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share limited information with the following service providers, only as needed to run our business and deliver your service:
- Invoice Simple — the app we use to generate and send invoices. Invoice Simple is based in Canada, so your name and contact details may be processed on servers outside South Africa as part of invoicing you. This is necessary to bill you for the service you’ve booked with us.
- WhatsApp Business — used to communicate with you about your booking. WhatsApp (Meta) may process messages on servers outside South Africa.
We don’t use any CRM, booking platform, or client database beyond these two tools.
7. Payments
Payment is made by direct EFT into our business bank account. We don’t use a third-party payment gateway, and we never see or store your card or banking details — that stays between you and your bank.
8. Website analytics & cookies
Our website uses Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the site. This may use cookies to collect anonymous, aggregated data such as pages visited and general location, processed by Google on servers outside South Africa. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time without affecting your ability to use the site.
9. Photos and video
We don’t photograph or film at your event ourselves. After your event, we may reach out and ask whether you’re happy for us to use a few photos from your day — taken by you, your photographer, or your guests — on our website, social media, or portfolio. We only use photos you’ve agreed to share, and you’re always free to say no. If a professional photographer took the photos, let us know who they are and we’re happy to credit their work.
10. How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry and booking information for as long as reasonably necessary to deliver your service, and thereafter as required for tax and accounting record-keeping under South African law (currently 5 years), after which it’s deleted.
11. How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, or disclosure, including keeping our email, WhatsApp Business, and invoicing accounts secured with passwords and access controls.
12. Your rights
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete your information, where we’re not legally required to keep it
- Object to how we use your information
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at bookings@idosound.co.za.
13. Children
Our services and this website are intended for adults planning events. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
15. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, contact us directly at bookings@idosound.co.za, or lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator: https://inforegulator.org.za/
